Our journeys

Essentia Safari

  • Small Groups

Never more than six travellers per vehicle, so every seat is a window seat.

  • Local Guides

Born-and-raised trackers who read the bush like a first language.

  • Eco Camps

Solar-run camps with a light footprint and a very big view.

Essentia Safari journeys move at the pace of the wild. Small groups, local guides and eco camps set deep in the bush mean every morning starts with tracks in the sand and ends around a fire under an enormous sky.

We keep the days unhurried on purpose: fewer vehicles, longer sightings, and time to simply watch a pride wake up.

Timing

When To Go

There is no bad month, only different months. Here is the honest version.

May
Jun
Jul
Aug
Sep
Oct
Nov
Dec
Peak: dry, big herds, highest price
Shoulder: good game, fewer vehicles
Green: rain, calving, lowest price

Jun – Oct

Dry season. The river crossings, the cats, the clearest skies and the fullest camps. Book nine months out.

Jan – Feb

Calving on the short-grass plains. Predator action at its best and green light for photography.

Mar – May

Long rains. Some tracks close and we will say so but prices drop by a third and you may have a sighting to yourself.

Kind Words

Reviews

We woke to lions calling across the plain and fell asleep under more stars than I knew existed. Essentia handled every detail so we only had to look up.

Amara Okafor

Serengeti, 9 nights

Our guide read the bush like a book. Three days in and we were tracking a leopard on foot, hearts pounding. Nothing about it felt like a package tour.

Jonas Lindqvist

Maasai Mara, 7 nights

The camps were quiet, beautiful and genuinely part of the landscape. Best coffee of my life, served at sunrise on a deck above the river.

Priya Raman

Okavango Delta, 6 nights
